EQUIPMENT NEEDED

  • Air fryer
  • Small saucepan

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces of Halibut
  • ¼ cup Orange juice
  • ¼ cup Coconut aminos
  • 2 teaspoons Honey
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic powder

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the coconut aminos, orange juice, honey, and garlic powder.
  • Add the halibut and the sauce to a resealable zip bag and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 10 minutes or up to a day if you like.
  • Spray the bottom of your air fryer basket and then place the halibut pieces in the tray, reserving the liquid in the bag.
  • Cook the halibut at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. There is no need to preheat your air fryer.
  • While the fish is cooking add the reserved marinade to a small saucepan and heat it to medium heat.
  • Let the marinade come to a slow boil and stir occasionally until it becomes a glaze-like consistency, about 5-6 minutes. Then spoon over the cooked halibut.

Notes

Substitutions
Halibut- If you can't find fresh halibut at your local grocery store then any fresh fish like cod, snapper, or salmon would make a great option.
Coconut aminos- You can use gluten-free soy sauce or teriyaki sauce instead of coconut aminos.
Orange juice- If you don't have orange juice you can use pineapple juice, papaya juice, or a combination of lemon juice and lime juice.
Honey- If you don't have honey you can use maple syrup.
Garlic powder- You can also use fresh garlic if you prefer. If you don't have either, then you can use onion powder.
 Frequently asked questions
Should I flip fish in the air fryer?
In this recipe no. You don't have to worry about flipping fish when you are cooking it in the air fryer. Some fish recipes may have you flip your fish halfway through so just be sure to read the recipe instructions.
What temperature is fish cooked at in the air fryer?
This halibut recipe is cooked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in the air fryer. Depending on what fish you are cooking it could cook at a higher temperature. You can cook it at a higher temperature but I would take the total cook time down a little bit. Be sure to check the recipe instructions for what temperature and how long to cook your fish in the air fryer.
How do you cook halibut without it drying out?
Cooking halibut in the air fryer is a great way to cook it without drying it out. It keeps the fish moist and flakey. A sure way to make sure you don't overcook it is to use a meat thermometer. The internal temperature of halibut should be about 130-135 degrees Fahrenheit.
Storing and reheating
Here are the best ways to store and reheat your halibut.
Storing
If you have leftover halibut, you can store it in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
Reheating
I have found the best way to reheat this halibut is in the oven. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until it's heated through. This ensures you end up with a nice tender halibut and keeps it from drying out.
