I am a wife to my husband Brent, a travel addict, and a dog mom to two crazy pups (Harley and Roczen). We live in Austin, Texas, and are both born and raised Texans who have dreams of living in the mountains one day.
As a gluten-free home cook, I am dedicated to creating delicious dishes using real ingredients. Being a food blogger, food photographer, and recipe developer, my passion revolves around crafting flavorful recipes that are free from gluten and dairy.
How I got started in gluten-free cooking
My journey into mindful eating began in 2016 when I realized the importance of understanding the ingredients in our food. Initially, I thought it would be so challenging to stick to foods with easily pronounceable ingredients. I decided to read 'It Starts With Food' and made the decision to do the Whole30 challenge in January 2017. Brent and I loved it and it ended up changing the way we eat from that day forward.
During my Whole30 journey, I shared our meals and experiences on social media, and I had lots of requests for the recipes I was making. This inspired me to start Kaleena's Kitchen in 2019, where I could share the recipes I developed.
My day-to-day cooking style
I am passionate about cooking with real ingredient foods and showing people that eating/cooking gluten-free and dairy-free isn't hard.
The Whole30 program truly changed the way I cook and eat and find myself naturally making Whole30 and Paleo-friendly meals regularly. While we don't strictly adhere to only Whole30 and Paleo eating anymore, a lot of my recipes are still Whole30 and Paleo friendly.
