With the perfect balance of flavors, this sriracha honey sauce uses simple ingredients to make a great sauce for dipping, coating veggies, or pairing with meats.

A jar filled with honey sriracha sauce and a bowl off to the side with white rice and limes.

This spicy honey sriracha sauce is my new best friend. I love a sweet sauce and spicy food so this is the perfect marriage of ingredients and I put it on everything!

Making a homemade sauce is super easy! Most store bought sauces you buy from the grocery store have questionable ingredients like high fructose corn syrup. This easy sweet sriracha chili sauce uses only a handful of cleaner ingredients. You will end up loving it so much you'll want to drink it straight from the jar. I mean I've been known to eat it by the spoonful before, so I'm not judging.

    Ingredients

Honey, soy sauce, sriracha, garlic, and rice vinegar in small bowls.

    Substitutions

Soy sauce- I usually use gluten free soy sauce in this recipe. You can use coconut aminos, tamari, or Worcestershire sauce if you don't have soy sauce.

Honey- You can use maple syrup instead of honey.

Fresh garlic- If you don't have fresh garlic, you can use 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.

Rice vinegar- You can use apple cider vinegar instead of rice vinegar.

    Step by step

A sauce pan filled with honey sriracha sauce.
    1. Add the sriracha, honey, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and minced garlic to a small bowl and whisk everything together.
    2. Add the sauce to a small saucepan and heat on medium-high heat until it starts to boil.
    3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and let it low boil for 5-10 minutes or until the sauce has thickened to a glaze.

    Frequently asked questions

    What is sriracha made of?

Sriracha or rooster sauce is made from chili peppers, sugar, salt, distilled vinegar, potassium sorbate, sodium bisulfite, and xanthan gum.

What does honey sriracha sauce taste like?

Honey sriracha sauce is a sweet and spicy sauce with an Asain flare. It has a perfect balance of spicy, sweet, and tangy.

    Is sriracha healthy?

If you are looking for clean ingredients, sriracha is probably something you won't use. There is a fantastic sriracha from YellowBird that has super clean ingredients that you can use.

    What to serve with

Here are some great recipes and ways to use this sticky sauce.

    • Honey Sriracha Shrimp
    • a dipping sauce for Gluten Free Coconut Shrimp
    • a dipping sauce for french fries
    • a dipping sauce for chicken nuggets or chicken tenders
    • let cool and use as a salad dressing
    • roasted or air fryer Brussels sprouts
    • honey sriracha chicken- coat grilled chicken breast or grilled chicken thighs with the sauce
    • chicken wings- coat chicken drumsticks with the sauce and grill or bake them
    • roasted or air fryer sweet potatoes
    • mix with mayo to make a sweet and spicy sriracha mayo
    • spoon on top of salmon
    • a dipping sauce for egg rolls or spring rolls
    • a dipping sauce for meatballs or coat them in the sauce

    Tips and notes

You can whisk all these ingredients together and eat it as is but bringing the sauce to a low boil will thicken it up and make an amazing glaze.

Adding a little bit of fresh lime juice or fresh lemon juice to this spicy sauce would be awesome! All you need is the juice from half a lemon or lime.

To make this sauce less spicy, use less sriracha. I would use ¼ cup of sriracha instead of ⅓ cup.

To make this sauce sweeter, add more honey. I would add ½ cup of honey instead of ⅓ cup.

    Storing and reheating

Store the hot sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You can eat the remaining sauce cold straight out of the fridge but I like to heat it up to at least room temperature in the microwave or on the stovetop in a small saucepan.
