These hot honey brussel sprouts are crispy on the outside, tender in the middle, and coated in a sticky, sweet and spicy glaze that makes them completely irresistible.

Ever since I did my first Whole30 back in 2017, I've been obsessed with finding ways to turn simple veggies into something mouthwatering without relying on heavy sauces or breading. These hot honey brussel sprouts are one of those side dishes that feel special while still being made with simple, real ingredients. The sweet heat pairs perfectly with cozy dinners like my blackened salmon or bbq salmon bites, and it's one of those recipes I can throw together on a busy weeknight and still feel like I made something a little special.
What makes this recipe unique?
What sets these brussel sprouts apart is the way the honey caramelizes right onto the brussel sprouts while they roast at high heat. Instead of just drizzling hot honey on at the end, the sprouts roast directly in the honey and avocado oil, creating crispy, sticky edges with layers of sweet and spicy flavor in every bite. It's that contrast of roasted crunch and sweet heat that makes these so addicting and way more exciting than your average roasted veggie.
Ingredients

Are hot honey brussel sprouts gluten free?
Yes! Brussel sprouts are naturally gluten free, and this brussel sprouts recipe is made with simple, real food ingredients, making it a great gluten-free and Paleo-friendly side dish.
Can I make these less spicy?
Totally! If you're sensitive to heat, use regular honey instead of hot honey, or choose a mild hot honey. You'll still get that delicious caramelized sweetness without too much kick.
Can I make hot honey brussel sprouts ahead of time?
You can roast them ahead of time and reheat them, but they're best served fresh when the honey is sticky and the edges are extra crispy.
Step by step

- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 450ยฐF. Wash and trim the brussel sprouts, then cut them into quarters. Spread them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, drizzle with avocado oil and hot honey, and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

- Step 2: Toss the brussel sprouts right on the baking sheet until they're evenly coated in the honey and seasonings, then bake for 20 minutes or until crispy.
Kaleena's Tips
- Spread the brussel sprouts out in a single layer so they roast instead of steam. Crowding the pan will keep them from getting crispy.
- Roasting at 450ยฐF helps the honey caramelize and gives you those golden, crispy edges.
- If you love extra crisp, pop them under the broiler for the last few minutes of cooking.
- For even more flavor, you can drizzle a little extra hot honey over the brussel sprouts right after they come out of the oven.
Storing and reheating
Storing: Store leftover brussel sprouts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Reheating: To reheat, warm them in the oven at 350ยฐF for about 8-10 minutes or until heated through. You can also reheat them in the air fryer for a few minutes to help bring back some of that crispy texture. The microwave works too, but the brussel sprouts will be softer.
