This homemade Whole30 Taco Seasoning uses only a handful of staple seasonings, is super easy to make, and is great for having on hand in your spice cabinet.

No taco night or Mexican food is complete without a great taco seasoning. This easy homemade taco seasoning is perfect to have on hand in your spice cabinet for taco Tuesday!

Making your own taco seasoning is beyond easy! You will be shocked that you haven't made it before. Most store bought taco seasoning packets have added sugar and added preservatives that are unnecessary. Making a healthy taco seasoning doesn't take a lot of time and uses staple spices that you can find at any grocery store.

    Ingredients

Ingredients you need to make Whole30 Taco Seasoning.

    Substitutions

Paprika- I like to make this with smoked paprika to give the seasoning mix an extra depth of flavor, but regular paprika will work perfectly.

    Step by Step

    1. In a small bowl, add garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, chili powder, black pepper, sea salt, oregano, and paprika.
    2. Mix together till everything is combined.
    3. Add the mixed spices to a glass jar and give it a good shake.

    Frequently asked questions

Does McCormick taco seasoning have sugar?

According to the ingredient list, no. It does contain corn starch which makes it not Whole30 compliant.

Can you use seasonings on Whole30?

Yes! Seasonings are a great way to liven up your Whole30 meals, just be careful with seasoning blends and make sure to check your labels!

    Tips and notes

If you like spicy taco seasoning, then you can add cayenne pepper to give this seasoning a bit of a kick.

For every pound of meat, you will use two tablespoons of this seasoning. So if you are using one pound of ground beef or ground turkey to make taco meat then you will use two tablespoons of this taco seasoning.

I like to make a big batch of this so I have plenty on hand for whenever I need it. If I make a big batch I will usually double the recipe.

    What to use with

There are so many ways you can use this seasoning mix. Here are a few of my favorite ways.

    • Whole30 Stuffed Peppers
    • Chicken Tacos
    • Taco Salad
    • Burrito Bowls
    • Fish Tacos
    • Taco Soup

    Storing

Store this paleo taco seasoning at room temperature in an airtight container for up to six months.

I like to store my spices and spice mixes in a glass jar. These are the spice jars I have and I love them. You can also use an old spice jar or a small mason jar.
